Lake Manyara National Park, an untouched haven, is renowned for its profusion of avian species and lions exhibiting the unique behavior of climbing trees. The park’s western boundary is defined by the striking escarpment of the Rift Valley, while the east is embraced by the shallow, alkaline Lake Manyara. This expansive lake undergoes seasonal fluctuations, expanding and receding, hosting myriad flamingos during the rainy periods. The park derives its name, Manyara, from the Maasai term ’emanyara,’ signifying a prevalent plant used in constructing protective enclosures around family homesteads (bomas). The park boasts diverse vegetation, ranging from savannah to perpetual green forest. During your exploration, you might encounter giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, elephants, and, with a stroke of luck, lions gracefully reclining in the branches of trees.
Early morning after breakfast, you will depart from Arusha which is almost 2 hours away straight to Lake Manyara National Park. Your driver guide will take to different locations which are interesting in the park such as the hotsprings, hippo pool and the lake where you can witness a number of different birds at the lake especially the pink flamingo and many other birds like the yellow billed stock, white stock, pelicans and many more families of birds as Lake Manyara is well known for its richness in birds.
